MAUMERE-KOMODO-LABUAN BAJO 12 DAYS / 11 NIGHTS ITINERARY:
12 DAYS / 11 NIGHTS ITINERARY:
DAY 01 : MAUMERE WATUBLAPI
Upon arrive in Maumere airport you will be greeted by your Cruise Director then transfer you to the Yacht you have charted.
Safety drill and welcome drinks will be your first boat procedure before you settle to your cabin.
Before lunch we will visit Watublapi village where we will see and learn the textile weaving.
The first welcome on our arrival the chief of the village great us in local dialog means to say welcome and blessing for all of us.
We will witness the traditional dance. Here will be your chance to buy the best textile of Flores. While lunch we cruise to Pangabatan for swimming and diving.
In the evening cruise to east of Flores.
DAY 02 : BAMA VILLAGE, EAST FLORES
Bama village is located in east of Flores and it is known as one of the best ikat weaving village in Flores. You will have a chance to collaborate in coloring with natural dyes.
This is one of the reason why the ikat prices are expensive as
they value the price due to the motif and the meaning of the ikat itself. If time allows we will do swimming of the boat.
Late afternoon sail toward east to Jontona village in Lomblen Island.
DAY 03 : JONTONA
Ili api is one of the active volcano in north of Lomblen island. Jontona village is located on the foot of the volcano.
If you are interested we can visit the old village about half way to the top of the volcano.
Hire wooden truck will be the easiest way to reach the village.
There you will see the collection of the ivories that part of the evidence of early trade for spices before the European reached the island of the Mollucas.
After the tour return onboard for lunch and we procced to the nearby beach for swimming and snorkeling. SD diving will be your chance to learn dive.
In the evening cruise overnight to Alor island.
DAY 04 : ALOR ISLAND
Early in the morning we will enter the bay of Alor and approaching the harbor of Kalabahi.
After breakfast by local Bus for 30 minutes’ drive to visit Abui tribe
in Takpala village.Abui is the first inhabitant of Alor Island before the migrants from Ambon’s arrive.
You will be welcome by the Abui chief and his community, escort us to the place where they perform the traditional dance.

Before Lunch return onboard then procced to few small island out of the bay for snorkeling and diving. After dinner we cruise to Lamalera south of Lembata.
DAY 05: LAMALERA VILLAGE
Lamalera is the only village in Asia where traditional whaling is still exist until nowadays.
Certain time of the year the sperm whales are wondering around Sawu Sea.
This is a very ancient fishing for Lamalera people and they still do a rituals asking for blessing from the God.
However the first Catholism has been changes their worship to their ancestor but the oldest still believe and practice the old religion.
Omens in Lamalera are also the textile weaver.
The motifs are dominated with flower and whale as their symbol of life. After lunch there is a snorkeling site near where the boat anchor. Late afternoon cruise overnight to Ndao Island.
DAY 06: NDAO ISLAND
Ndao Island is populated by only 270 people.
They all live from fishing and the last few years they farm the seaweeds. Like other island in south of Flores it is very dry and the men are known as the silversmith.
They sell their silver craft to other island even as far as Bali. The wide and long white sand beach make this island is worth to stay for a day and enjoy the turquoise color of the water and the sound of the waves break up to the shore from Indian Ocean.
They also produce the salt by using the Giant Clam shells and pouring the seawater on it then take 3 to 4 days to evaporate to become white crystal salt.
You can find those along the beach in Ndao. In the evening the crew will set up the beach BBQ.
Late evening cruise to Sabu Island.
DAY 07: SABU ISLAND
Sabu and is the driest island in small lesser sunda and only growth
with lontar palm tree. T
hey grow beans once in year around February due to less rain.
Apart from that they earn money from fishing and cultivate the seaweeds.
They make brown liquid sugar from palm
Women in Sabu are famous as textile weavers.
They have such a beautiful pattern and colorful textile that totally different motif from the rest of small lesser Sunda island.
After breakfast we visit Maisara village where the show us the details process of ikat weaving.
You will have a chance to select and buy these ikat directly to the maker.
Lunch will be served onboard, then after lunch we will visit the secret village called Namata where the highest priest of the island lives.
Here you will see the uncommon round stone as Megalith stone .
After dinner cruise overnight to Ende.
DAY 08 : ENDE – KELIMUTU
Early morning arrive in Ende we will disembark to go on a bus tour and drive for 2 hours to the famous volcano in Flores called Kelimutu.
It has tree Crater Lake with different color. The color changes unpredictable.
We will drive through the villages and rice field. On the way back to the boat we will visit traditional village of Ende Lio.
After dinner cruise to Waibela south of Bajawa Region.
DAY 09 : WAIBELA – BAJAWA REGION
Today we will have 1 hr,drive to reach the foot of Inerie volcano where the ancient villages and traditional rules are still exist.
Gurusina and Bena are the two main traditional villages in Ngada region., Each village rules by the Kepala Adat ( traditional chief ) and number of clan will identified by how many ngadhu are stand in the central of village.
Traditional ikats are also display in front of the house which allows the guest to buy and the prices are negotiable.
Midday drive back to the boat, swim off the boat then continue our cruise to Waingapu east Sumba.
DAY 10 : SUMBA ISLAND
We arrive in Waigapu harbor in the morning.
After breakfast we will visit two royal villages in
east Sumba are called Prailiu and Pau villages. In this two village they will show as the process of Sumba ikats and they are the most finest and the best ikats in east of Indonesia.
Each motif will explain the social status off the Sumbaness.
They Royal family are not influence in any control the rules but they still respectful by their community.
We will see the big tombs are placed in every traditional village in Sumba.
There still number of coffins are inside the traditional house and waiting for the burial as they have to sacrifice with certain amount of animals due to person’s status.
Here would be your final day to buy the best ikats before heading to Komodo Island.
Midday sail toward Komodo and stop on the way to find a nice beach for swimming and snorkeling.
DAY 11 : RINCA ISLAND – SABOLAN ISLAND
After 10 days cruising to those ikats weaving villages and learn a lot of their cultures it is time to relax and enjoy the swimming and snorkeling in Komodo National Park.
We can do a short trek in Rinca island to see the wildlife and the most famous prehistoric animal called Komodo dragon.

DAY 12 : LABUHAN BAJO
If time allows after breakfast we will visit Melo village to see the traditional dance called “Caci”,.then transfer to the airport for your flight.
