Cloaked in tropical rainforest, Ambon Island is a fertile, mountainous island that lies off the southwest coast of Seram Island on the north side of the Banda Sea. It is part of a chain of volcanic islands on the northern side of the world famous Banda Islands – a region of Indonesia that is the subject of many books, stories and songs.
For a long time the Banda Islands were renowned for their richness and their strategic position for the spice trade. Today they are well known not only for their history but also for their breathtaking landscape, incredible marine life and astonishing coral reef.
With their mix of history and natural beauty, these islands are the perfect place to enjoy diving, snorkelling, beach barbecues and sightseeing – a remarkable setting for unforgettable moments.
DAY 1 – AMBON
From Bali, Manado, Jakarta or Ambon, you will arrive in Ambon where you will be met by the Yacht of your choice crew and be transferred by car and speedboat to the vessel. Once on board, let your voyage to relaxation begin! Following a general briefing by the Cruise Director to familiarise you with the vessel and its safety procedures, we cast off and cruise towards Molana Island. Say goodbye to land as you enjoy cocktails with the breeze on the upper deck.
As soon as we reach Molana Island, you can take pleasure in a swim or an intro dive before we raise anchor again to cruise overnight towards the Banda archipelago.
DAY 2-4 – RUN & BANDA
The Yacht will spend a few days around the Banda archipelago surrounded by history, volcanos, incredible landscapes and crystal clear waters.
On the morning of the second day we will reach Run Island where you will have the time to not only dive and snorkel in the beautiful water, but also take a walk into the village to experience the magic of this archipelago and island life. Early in the afternoon the vessel will reach the bay of Banda Naira, sailing through a stunning passage of green trees, rocks, white beaches, volcanos, colourful local boats and houses – a panorama that will stay with you forever. We will then anchor in front of the picturesque Hotel Maulana.
Banda Naira, once the headquarters of the Dutch East India Company, is now a colourful town facing the still-smoking Gunung Api volcano. Here you will have the chance to visit an old and still operational nutmeg plantation, walk around colonial buildings and rusting cannons, go for an incredible mug dive in the bay, or just outside the bay to see the corals and fishes that populate this area. For the more adventurous among you, take a trek up the 640-meter Gunung Api volcano for a spectacular view spanning nine of the ten islands of the Banda archipelago.
DAY 5-6 – SERAM
At the start of day, we set sail north towards the south coast of Seram, where you will visit local villages and enjoy the island’s rugged, untouched beauty. There is a great chance you’ll spot whales and dolphins playing in the water and unique parrots in the tropical forest.
And what better way to end the day than with an unforgettable dinner arranged for you at a perfect spot on the beach under the stars.
DAY 7 – AMBON
After enjoying a leisurely breakfast, it will be time to bid farewell to the Yacht and her crew who will escort you until Ambon airport and assist with your departure.
PLEASE NOTE that the itinerary of our sea voyages may occasionally have to be modified due to factors beyond our control: unfavourable weather conditions, delays in progressing harbour clearances, changes to the schedules of domestic flights, etc. The Cruise Director and Captain of The Yacht of your choice will adjust the itinerary accordingly in the best interests and safety of guests and crew.
